Janaye Majer:
How has your experiences helped you prepare for this position and how will the SOCA community benefit from you serving in this capacity? (<150 words) *
As a black POC, I’ve faced various amounts of bullying and adversity for being black. Due to facing these experiences, it has allowed me to be able to relate to other BIPOC and the issues they face daily. The SOCA community will benefit from me as I’ve been a member since before I even arrived at SFU and I continue to help bring in new members and educate not only myself but others on why black is beautiful.

My plans are to help with whatever is necessary and to create events that are intriguing to people in every year. As ITO, I plan to update the website and Instagram frequently by being at events and also making a tiktok so people can see SOCA in it’s true form. I definitely have 2-5 hours per week.
